Search events
Find events beyond the current month with keywords or natural-language queries.
Calendar searches events beyond the month you are viewing. Typing starts a keyword search. When AI is enabled, you can also submit a description to run a semantic search.
Choose a query
Use keywords when you remember exact wording. Use semantic search when you remember the subject or a time constraint.
| What you remember | Example | Method |
|---|---|---|
| Part of a title or location | Project review, Room A | Type keywords and inspect the results. |
| A subject and time range | Client meetings next week | Submit a semantic query from the search input. |
| A description with exclusions | Budget discussions that are not about hiring | State the subject and exclusions before submitting. |
Search uses your selected calendar categories. If nothing matches, broaden the filters or query. Semantic search cannot recover deleted events or events you cannot access.
Build a specific semantic query
Combine a subject with the date, participant, or exclusion that matters to your search. Omit the date when you want to search across time.
Compare these requests:

A concept in natural language can correspond to several expressions in event text. Semantic search helps interpret that phrasing, but a narrow date or category constraint still limits which events can match. Broaden the constraint deliberately instead of expecting the search to ignore it.
Review more than the first result
Results can span dates outside the current calendar view. Use the result's date and details to distinguish similarly named events, and load more results when the list offers that option.
For a recurring meeting, choose the occurrence you intend to inspect. The first matching title is not necessarily the next occurrence or the date you need to change.
Switch between typing and selecting
Open the command palette and select search mode. When AI is enabled, Enter behaves differently depending on whether you are writing a query or selecting a result:
- Type a query and press Enter to submit a semantic search.
- Select a result with the arrow keys or pointer, then press Enter to open it.
- Click the input or change the query to return to typing.
The first result being highlighted automatically does not mean you have selected it. Opening a result navigates to its date, so you do not need to find the month first.
Separate finding from changing
Search returns matching events. Ask AI can use tools to create, update, or delete events. Stay in search mode when you only need to find something; use AI conversations when you want to change data.
Semantic search depends on service availability and request limits. If you reach a limit, wait before retrying or continue with keyword search.
Diagnose an empty result
Change one part of the search at a time so you can tell which constraint excluded the event.
Check category visibility
Include the event's category or uncategorized events. The same title can appear in several categories.
Try a distinctive keyword
Use wording you know appears in the title, description, or location. This separates a wording problem from an AI service problem.
Reconsider date boundaries
Check whether the event crosses midnight in your time zone or belongs to another occurrence of a recurring series. Remove the date constraint if you are unsure.
Check access and deletion
Confirm that an invited event belongs to the email address you are signed in with. A deleted event or revoked invitation cannot be recovered by changing the search terms.
Search a shortlist instead
The bookmark panel searches only your bookmarked events. Use it when you intentionally saved a small set of references; use Calendar search when the event might be anywhere in your accessible schedule.
